The design in 5 Ages of Gold is terrifically well done. Set against a misty jungle backdrop, you’ll see A to 9 royal values as well as a selection of higher paying icons. These include corn, frogs, turtles and birds. The top standard symbol is the goddess in the headdress. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on adjacent reels and you’ll win a payout equal to 1.66, 3.33 or 33.3 times your total stake.
There’s also a wild that can land on the middle 3 reels only. This replaces all the standard symbols. You could also see the Bonus Wild. When this hits on the middle reel, it can award an instant cash bonus of up to 50 times your total stake or a bonus trigger. This is called the Wild Bonus feature.
You can also trigger the Free Games feature by landing 3 or more scatter symbols on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1, on the same spin. After a payout of 5, 10 or 50 times your stake, you’ll then be offered a selection of free spins and wild multiplier combinations.
- 25 free spins with 2x, 3x or 5x wild multipliers
- 20 free spins with 3x, 5x or 8x wild multipliers
- 15 free spins with 5x, 8x or 10x wild multipliers
- 13 free spins with 8x, 10x or 15x wild multipliers
- 10 free spins with 10x, 15x or 30x wild multipliers
Landing 3 or more scatters on the same free spin results in a re-trigger and another round of free spins – this means 50 free spins with wild multipliers up to 5x or 20 free spins with wild multipliers up to 30x. I would always go for the bigger multipliers as just 1 free spin could land you huge riches.
We enjoyed 5 Ages of Gold. There’s a primitive look to the visuals which are excellent, as is the backing track. The gameplay is simple. The Free Games feature can deliver some top action thanks to the multipliers though – there’s a whopping 30,000 times your stake to be won from each free spin (with the 30x multiplier of course).
We’ve taken plenty of virtual jungle treks hunting for treasure. 5 Ages of Gold is one of the better ones. If you want jungle adventure, Jungle Giants by Playtech is not to be missed.
