Crystal Crush looks more like a game found on a social media app rather than an online casino. There aren’t any traditional reels or paylines. The action takes place within a hexagonal grid made up of 61 different symbol positions. To create a winning combination, you need to land a cluster of 5 or more matching adjacent symbols. The best of these is the orange symbol which pays 6.4 times your stake if you find a cluster of 9 or more.
After a win, the successful symbols are removed and new ones drop in and replace them. The symbol drops keep on coming as long as a new winning cluster hits. Joining the standard symbols are crystallized symbols. These don’t form part of winning combinations but they can fill up the Progress Meter which can bring other goodies into play.
Land a crystallized symbol next to a winner and it’s crushed. After a third symbol crush, you’ll activate the Crystal Crush feature. The more crushes, the bigger the bonus levels:
- Bonus Level 1 – Wins featuring this colour symbol receive a 2x multiplier boost.
- Bonus Level 2 – Up to 3 random symbols of the same colour turn into wilds.
- Bonus Level 3 – Wins featuring this colour symbol receive a 3x multiplier boost.
- Bonus Level 4 – Up to 6 random symbols of the same colour become wild.
- Bonus Level 5 – Wins featuring this colour symbol receive a 4x multiplier boost.
- Bonus Level 6 – All standard and crystal symbols of the same colour turn wild.
After a winless spin, the bonus level resets back to its original state. The Crystal Crush feature can trigger at random on any unsuccessful spin and award 2 Bonus levels.
This is about as far removed from an old school fruity as you can get. It’s not really our favourite theme but we can see why it will be popular with Facebook players. The colourful visuals are decent enough and the repetitive gameplay serves up enough action to keep things interesting. It’s pretty volatile too with the variance sitting in the medium to high range – saying that, you can win 409 times your stake at a maximum.
If you’re looking for something different from the common slot game, then you’ll find just that in Crystal Crush. Unfortunately, it’s not something I will play at all – I recommend you play top slot games like Vikings from Net Entertainment or Journey of the Gods by Blueprint Gaming.
