Set against a clear white backdrop, symbols on the reels include lower value cherries, oranges, lemons and melons. There's also a wild that can hit on reels 2, 3 and 4 that substitutes for everything bar the scatter.
You'll notice straight away that Firestarter uses a reel refill game engine - after every winning spin, the successful symbols will magically disappear with the symbols above moving into their place. A new payout is made with the new symbols in place. The re-fills keep on coming as long as there's a new winning combo on show.
Firestarter also comes with a Free Games feature which is triggered by the matchbox scatter - land it on reels 1, 2 and 3 in the base game and you'll be awarded 10 free spins. During the feature, both the male and female devils turn into scatters, offering payouts even if they're not in a payline. The matchbox scatter is also in play during the feature, on all 5 reels in fact. You can re-trigger another 5, 10 or 15 free spins by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters during the feature.
Firestarter is a typical Novomatic slot offering plenty of volatile action - the variance isn't as beastly as some slots and the reel refills keep the action in the base game ticking over nicely. The action remains pretty hot in the free spins round where the scatter paying devils can work some magic.
