Golden Grimoire Slot

A magical textbook full of spells is the key element of Golden Grimoire, a 5 reel, 20 payline slot game from Net Entertainment. The highlight here is the magical Mystery Transforming symbols. These turn sticky too when you trigger the free spins bonus round. Try and conjure up a spell from between 20p and £400 per spin.

As usual for a Net Entertainment slot game, there’s little reason to grumble to about the design of Golden Grimoire. The action takes place in a wizard’s laboratory that’s full of scrolls, potions and candles. On the reels you’ll see lower value heart, diamond, club and spade symbols alongside a quartet of potentially more rewarding animal jewels. The best of these is the gold spider covering the red gemstone. Land 5 of these and you’ll pocket 5 times your stake.

The Golden Grimoire (or the textbook of magic spells as it’s known in English) is the Mystery Symbol. This can land on reels 3, 4 or 5 only in the base game. All instances of this symbol that hit transform into the same matching symbol.

If the transformed symbol is the same as the one on reel 1 of that row than all the symbols in between will morph into the same matching symbol too. Better still is if the Mystery Symbol turns into a wild. All the symbols on that row will turn wild regardless of what’s on reel 1. This is known as the Mystery Symbol feature.
Golden Grimoire also comes with a Free Spins feature which is triggered by landing the scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. Your reward will be 8 free spins. Those free spins come with Sticky Mystery symbols – known as the Sticky Mystery Symbol feature. Once they hit, they remain in position for the rest of the feature, transforming into a new symbol with each free spin. Mystery Symbols can hit on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 during the Free Spins feature.

We found plenty to enjoy in Golden Grimoire. The visuals are as high spec as you’d expect from a Net Entertainment production, as is the fantastical soundtrack. The gameplay doesn’t offer a huge amount of variety but the Mystery Symbols can reward you with 200 times your stake on each spin/free spin – it’s low variance though.

The appetite for all things magical shows no signs of slowing down. Net Entertainment has created an entertaining new addition to that catalogue in Golden Grimoire. Saying that, the win potential is low due to the 200 times stake max win limit – for that reason, Golden Grimoire won’t be as popular as other Net Entertainment games like Vikings or Dead or Alive.
