As usual for an Yggdrasil Gaming slot game, the design here is very good. The setting is an indoor arena - the reels are set against a backdrop of bright lights and big ramps. There are 7 standard symbols. You’ll see 3 lower value helmets and 4 high value character symbols. The best of these is Travis who’ll get you 5, 10 or 20 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. There’s also a wild which performs the usual duties. Yggdrasil Gaming has packed in some unusual extras here.
Nitro Blast feature - land 2 of the bomb symbol on the same spin to trigger this round. Pick 1 of the 5 bombs to win between 10 and 30 free spins, a Nitro wild symbol that turns between 2 and 9 symbols wild or you’ll add a vehicle to your collection which helps trigger the Nitro Jump feature. Land the Nitro Blast during the Nitro Free Spins feature and you could get extra free spins or multipliers too.
Nitro Free Spins feature - land 3, 4 or 5 Nitro Bomb symbols and you’ll receive 10, 20 or 30 free spins complete with 1, 2 or 3 feature picks. These can add multipliers, extra wilds and more free spins to your total.
Nitro Jump feature - this is triggered by landing all the letters that make up the word NITRO on the same spin or collecting 5 vehicles and filling the meter to the side of the reels. You’ll then make a Nitro Circus style jump. You’ll have 3 stunt jumps where you can collect coin prizes, multipliers or free spins.
The further the rider goes on the final Nitro Boost jump, the bigger the multiplier prize awarded. You can add a manual speed boost here. This can get your rider further but it could also cause him to crash in which case you’d win nothing.
There’s plenty going on in Nitro Circus. The graphics have a video game feel and are very well put together, as is the rock soundtrack. The range of extras appeared a little confusing at first glance so we recommend a few spins in demo mode. The Nitro Boost especially takes a little getting used to. Once you’ve got your eye in, there’s plenty to like here. It looks and sounds superb and the gameplay offers something very different from many similarly themed slot games.
If Nitro Circus popped up on Sky Sports Mix, we’d probably turn over. This slot game kept us interested though.
