Honey Rush Slot Review

Hope for some seriously sweet action in Honey Rush, an unusual and highly volatile slot game from Play ‘N Go. Played using a hexagonal grid, winning combinations are created by landing clusters of matching symbols. Successive symbol drop wins can bring sticky wilds into play. Look out too for multipliers which can double or treble playouts. Play on all devices from between 20p and £100 per spin.

Hexagonal grid

With a cartoon woodland in the background, the reels appear in a hexagon shaped 4x5x6x7x6x5x4 formation. To create a winner, you need to land a cluster of at least 5 matching symbols. After a winner hits, the successful symbols are removed and new ones drop in and replace them.

Rush Meter feature

All winning symbols contribute to the Rush Meter feature - once you have a certain number of symbols in the Rush Meter, you’ll be awarded a special extra:

  • Level 1 – requires 20 winning symbols. This level activates Drone Colony before adding a sticky wild to the grid.
  • Level 2 – requires 40 winning symbols. This level activates Drone Colony before adding a sticky wild to the grid.
  • Level 3 – requires 80 winning symbols. This level activates Drone Colony before adding a sticky wild to the grid.
  • Level 4 – requires 160 winning symbols. The level activates Queen Colony only.

Colony feature

Once the Drone Colony is active, the symbol on the middle position of the grid is cloned to create a new winning cluster of at least 7 matching symbols. Known as the Colony feature, these symbols are then added to the Rush Meter. Also added is a sticky wild. The sticky wilds are placed on the second ring of the grid. These can come with multipliers attached too which can double or treble payouts.

If you make it through to Level 4, you’ll trigger the Queen Colony extra which creates a cluster of between 20 and 37 symbols which can lead to a potentially massive win. The Rush Meter and the grid revert to normal after an unsuccessful symbol drop.

You could also trigger a Drone or Queen Colony strike at random following an unsuccessful spin. In between those 2 is the Worker Colony. This creates a new winning cluster of between 7 and 15 symbols.

Unusual with 9,000 x stake wins

Honey Rush is a very unusual slot game. The game grid and the extras it can deliver can take some getting used to so try and have a few spins in demo play if you can. The theme here might be super sweet. Honey Rush has a sting in the tail as far as variance goes. However, there’s up to 9,000 times your stake to be won from each spin.

Like most slot games in the Play ’N Go catalogue, the action here is extremely volatile. Expect plenty of winless spells. Get lucky with the Drone extras and Honey Rush could leave you buzzing. If you like these type of slot games, Viking Runecraft (by Play ‘N Go) is recommended.
