As usual for an ELK Studios game, the design in The Wiz is pretty good. You’ll see a castle, rainbow and dragons in the background. On the reels are spoons, magic keys, bottles of potion, treasure chests, rings, amulets and a man in the moon. The best paying symbols is the sun god. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on adjacent reels and you’ll win 2.5, 5 or 10 times your total stake.
That doesn’t sound like a lot for a top paying combination. Look out for the dragon wild though. When this makes up part of a winning line, it can deliver a multiplier boost which can send payouts rocketing by between 2x and 5x. This is called the Wild Multiplier feature.
The bearded wizard of the title appears on the Bonus symbol. Land 2 or more of these on the same spin and you’ll trigger the game’s Wizspins Bonus Game feature. Hitting 2, 3, 4 or 5 bonus symbols awards 1, 5, 7 or 10 free spins. Things are a little different during those free spins as the lower value spoon, key, bottle and treasure chest symbols morph into their equivalent high value symbol.
The wild dragon becomes a walking multiplier wild, the Walking Wild feature, during the feature too. It moves 1 position to the left with each free spin. The number of free spins left are held while the dragon is on the screen. This can give you unlimited free spins in theory.
This is a typically classy effort from ELK Studios. The visuals aren’t quite the best you’ll see from this developer but are still well above average. Likewise, the magical soundtrack. The gameplay is pretty straightforward but can really come into its own during the Wizspins Bonus Game feature.
Combine wilds to boost payouts by up to 5x which can really get the coins flowing. Medium to high variance, there’s a cool 5,000 times your stake to be won from every spin with the 5x multiplier. The Wiz is a simple, entertaining game. Get lucky will those wilds and the magical dragons and wizards can conjure up some cracking action. I also suggest you try some of ELK Studios’ other games with Valkyrie and Wild Toro my favourites.
