Rio Riches Stacked Up Slot

Based on the world-famous Mardi Gras celebrations, Rio Riches Stacked Up is a Brazilian carnival-themed slot game from Ainsworth. Played using a 5 reel, 30 payline game engine, it comes with wilds that double payouts and a feature round that awards 10 free spins. Re-triggers not only award more free spins but also expand the number of paylines in play to 60 and then 90. You could also win a jackpot prize of up to £15,000. Play on all devices from between 90p and £36 per spin.

You’d be hard pushed to call Rio Riches Stacked Up a thing of beauty. It’s colourful yes but not exactly sophisticated. Flanked by a pair of dancers, the reels are made up of lower value royal symbols plus masks, parrots and drums. Most rewarding is the green necklace which pays double your total stake if you land 5 in combination. The golden beach symbol is the wild. This can hit on reel 3 only. When it makes up part of a winning line, that payout is doubled.

Landing 3 or more scatters on the same spin triggers the Stacked Up feature. After receiving a payout of 3, 10 or 50 times your total stake, you’ll then play 10 free spins. These free spins come with extra wilds that can turn whole reels into jokers.

Landing 3 or more scatters on the same free spin not only adds another 5 free spins to your total, it also expands the number of paylines in play from 30 to 60. Another re-trigger adds another 30 paylines as well as 2 more free spins.

If you manage to land the Golden Beach symbol fully stacked on reels 1 and 2 on the same spin, you’ll trigger the Bonus Spin feature. This will give you a shot at landing a jackpot prize. Top of the pops here is the Grand Bonus which pays £15,000 if you manage to fill the whole of the reels with the Golden Beach symbol.

Like many slot game from Ainsworth, we found Rio Riches Stacked Up rather disappointing. The visuals look very dated and the generic soundtrack is a million miles away from a samba party. The features didn’t exactly wow is either. The expanded paylines are all well and good but it’s not the most exciting feature offering. The only thing that saved this slot game was the potential from the jackpots.

We were hoping for a real carnival from Rio Riches Stacked Up. It’s certainly not that. If you like Ainsworth slot games, then fire way. There are plenty of more entertaining alternatives for the rest of us on offer elsewhere – like Samba Carnival from Play ‘N Go.
