Neptune’s Quest Slot

Based on the ancient Roman god of the sea, Neptune’s Quest is an 11 reel, 100 payline slot game from WMS. This watery adventure comes with a free spins round that can be triggered 2 different ways. Triggering symbols are held during the feature and you’ll also see an extended wild. Stakes range from between 50p and £250 per spin.

The set up in Neptune’s Quest is a little unusual. You’ll see a pair of 2x2 blocks of individual reels plus 3 further 6 high reels. Together they combine to offer 100 paylines. The plain white reels are made up of lower value A to J symbols plus starfish, shells, fish and tridents.

They’re joined by a water bull, a mermaid and Neptune who is the top payer. Land 5 of the bearded god in combination and you’ll receive a payout of 5 times your total stake. The octopus is the wild. It replaces all other symbols bar the scatter also offers awards of up to 5 times your total stake.

There are 2 ways to trigger the Free Spin Bonus feature in Neptune’s Quest. Land 4 matching symbols (it doesn’t have to be a scatter) in 1 or both of the smaller reel columns on the left hand side of the screen and you’ll be awarded 5 free spins.

The matching symbols from the triggering spin are locked in position throughout the whole of the feature which can give your winning chances a real leg up, especially if it’s 1 of the higher value symbols.

You can also trigger the free spins if you land the scatter on reels 9, 10 and 11 (the 3 larger reels to the right of the screen) on the same spin. If you’re lucky enough to land matching symbols plus the scatters on the same spin, you’ll receive 20 free spins.

In all cases, an extended wild is in play on reels 9, 10 and 11. You can re-trigger more free spins here too if you manage to land 3 scatters on the same free spin.

The unorthodox game engine takes a little getting used to here but once you’ve got your eye in there’s enough on offer here to keep things interesting. The Free Spin Bonus feature is the best route to riches thanks to the locked symbols – you can win up to 500 times your stake on every spin/free spin.

The design is reminiscent of a brick and mortar casino slot game and nothing special. The bubbles and splashes give the game a watery feel though. You’ll see plenty of better-looking games than this. The unusual gameplay makes Neptune’s Quest worth considering – I would also try Mighty Trident by Novomatic which is more volatile.
