Jin Ji Bao Xi: Endless Treasure Slot

Another land-based to online casino slot game conversion from WMS/Shuffle Master is Jin Ji Bao Xi: Endless Treasure. It’s a 5 reel, 243 ways to win title that comes with plenty of extras. The gameplay is a little complex but perseverance can deliver some pretty good action. Play on your PC, tablet or mobile from between 8p and £88 per spin.

The sound and visuals here have a very traditional feel. As usual for a slot game with this theme, deep red and gold dominate the colour scheme. Joining the lower value A to 9 royals are a selection of Chinese animals including koi, turtles, tigers, phoenix and dragons. In their standard form they pay 5, 10 or 20 coins for a 3, 4 or 5-symbol combination.

You can increase your bet level though and turn the animals into higher paying golden symbols. At standard stakes, you’ll see 1 gold animal symbol. Up your bet to 18, 38, 68 or 88 credits and you’ll have 2, 3, 4 or 5 gold symbols in play. The best gold symbol is the dragon which awards 20, 60 or 250 coins.

There’s also a wild which appears in the base game on the middle 3 reels only. There’s plenty to get stuck into on the features front here.

Golden chance feature - if a wild lands on reel 3, it can turn any standard animal symbols gold. As well as higher value payout, you’ll also receive a 2x multiplier boost.

Fu Value feature - each time a bonus symbol lands, you’ll see it comes with a coin amount. This is the so-called Fu value. The size of the bonus ranges from 1 right up to 11 times your stake and depends on how many gold symbols you have activated. When a bonus symbol hits the Fu value amount is dropped into the pot above the reels. This is then saved until you trigger the Free Games feature.

Free Games feature - land 6 or more bonus symbols on the same spin and you’ll trigger the free spins round. You’ll then receive 6 free spins, complete with added gold symbols. The amount of each symbol available varies depending on their value. This gold symbol is joined by the lower value royals plus a yellow coin which is wild. An extra 3 free spins are added when you land 3 yellow coins. Once your free spins are complete, the Fu value collected in the pot above the reels is added to your free spins total to give you an overall win.

Top Up feature - this is an option alongside the free spins. It’s a variation on the streak spin. The triggering bonus symbols, complete with their Fu value amounts are locked in position and the reels spin. Joining the action here are yellow and gold coins.

Land a yellow coin and it awards the total amount of Fu value from the coins from the triggering spin. For example, if the 6 bonus symbols from the triggering spin added up to £3.68 each yellow coin that lands is worth £3.68. Better still is the green coin. This adds all the coin values together to offer even bigger potential payouts. If you manage to fill all 15 reel positions with a bonus, yellow or green coin then you’ll trigger the grand jackpot.

Jin Ji Bao Xi feature - this is the jackpot round. As well as via the Top Up feature, it can hit at random. Choose from the coins until you land 3 the same. You’ll then win the associated jackpot. There are 4 of these which deliver the Mini, Minor, Major or Grand jackpot.

We can’t think of too many slot games that are more complicated than Jin Ji Bao Xi. It certainly takes a while to get used to the different moving parts including the Fu values and the Top Up feature. A few spins in demo mode are certainly recommended here. There’s some good stuff on offer here once you have got your head around the rather unorthodox gameplay – the main attraction is that you can win 30,999 times your total stake from each free spin!

Jin Ji Bao Xi: Eternal Treasure is certainly something of an acquired taste. A simple fruit machine it ain’t. If you like the Chinese theme though then this land-based conversion is certainly worth a closer look. I would rather play simpler slot games that have good bonus features – Black Knight II from WMS is certainly 1 not to miss.
