The design in Battleship Direct Hit is well done - the setting is the bridge of a modern-day naval ship. On the reels you’ll see A to 10 symbols as well as bronze, silver, gold and purple medals. The best standard symbol is the ship logo which pays 10, 15, 20 or 40 times your stake if you land 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination.
After any spin you could see Turret Fire feature spring into life. A volley of shots turns the low value symbols into more lucrative ones and a new payout calculation follows.
Above the reels you’ll see 6 positions. These are filled with different types of ship. The missile symbol is the scatter. This can hit on all 6 reels. When it does land, it’s launched at the ship directly above the reel. The goal is to land enough missiles and sink a ship in a single set of cascades.
The longer the ship that is sunk, the more free spins on offer. Depending on which ship is sunk, you’ll receive 5, 10, 15, 25 or 50 free spins in the Free Spins Bonus feature. There are a couple of differences in the free spins rounds. Firstly, wilds are now in play on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The missile scatters are in play here too. You could add another 5 free spins to your total if you sink a ship. If you manage to sink a ship, you could also win a jackpot prize of 20, 100, 250 or 2,500 times your total stake.
We liked Battleship Direct Hit. The visuals are nicely done, complemented by a military-style backing track and the roars of jet engines. There’s plenty of action on offer here too thanks to the cascading reels, Turret Fire and free spins. This is one of WMS’s better efforts. Battle Ship Direct Hit is right on target. If you like lots of ways to win, Big Time Gaming has plenty on offer as they use their MegaWays game engine.
