Like most slot games in the Quickspin catalogue, the design in Ark of Mystery is very well done. Flanked by a pair of ornate columns, the reels are set against the walls of a pyramid. There you’ll find A to 10 playing cards, an ankh cross, the scarab beetle and the eye of Horus. The best of the symbols is Anna the explorer who will get you 0.25, 5, 20 or 50 times your total stake if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination. Ark of Mystery comes with 2 features:
Wild Ark Respin feature - this is triggered every time a wild ark hits on the middle 3 reels. The wild ark locks in position and a respin is awarded. The wild then moves up or down into an adjacent position on the same reel and the process is repeated.
For example, if you landed a wild on the bottom position of the middle reel it would expand to fill the middle position on reel 3 on your first respin and the top position on your second. The wild can land on the middle 3 reels which gives the potential for 6 respins and loads of extra wilds.
Multiplier Booster feature - when the pyramid symbol lands on reel 5, it increases the multiplier meter by 1. Any payouts then benefit from the multiplier shown. This can send payouts rocketing by up to 22x if you get on a roll.
You won’t find many better designed Egyptian-themed slot games than Ark of Mystery which looks and sounds superb. Despite the lush imagery, the animations are silky smooth. The haunting backing track certainly adds to the atmosphere too.
The gameplay is relatively simple but works well. Expect to see plenty of ark wilds and respins to match. The multipliers can move things along too with potential payouts up to 6,509 times your total stake. The variance is in the medium to high range.
You’d think people would be tiring of Egyptian-themed slot games given how many of them are available. Ark of Mystery delivers something fresh here. Boasting cracking design and a couple of interesting extras, it’s well worth investigating if you like classical era action. I also recommend you try Rise of Egypt from Play ‘N Go which is excellent.
