First impressions of Wild Beats are excellent - an urban street scene is the setting. Rather than playing cards, the lower value symbols are neon versions of a variety of breakdancing moves. They’re joined by futuristic looking caps, sunglasses, headphones and hi-top sneakers. The best of the standard symbols is the ghetto blaster - land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these and you’ll get a payout of 5, 40, 70 or 500 coins.
There’s also a standard wild that can hit on reels 1, 3 and 5 only - it substitutes for all of the standard symbols. Land 3, 4 or 5 wilds and you’ll get an award of 75, 150 or 5,000 coins (or 200 times your stake).
So how can you land a 5-of-a-kind wild combo if the wild can only land on reels 1, 3 and 5 you ask? The standard wild is joined by 2 special wilds that can land on reels 2 and 4. Land both of these hip hop dancers on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Dance It Out feature.
Every lower value dancing symbol that appears on the middle 3 reels will join the 2 dancer wilds on reels 2 and 4 and become wild too. A new payout consideration is then made with the stacks of extra wilds in place.
That’s pretty much it as far as extras go - expect to land the Dance It Out feature pretty regularly though. You’ll likely see plenty of small wins and the occasional bigger one but not much in between. The overall variance is in the medium range.
The lack of free spins and other extras will be a deal breaker for some - we’d certainly liked to have seen some free spins thrown into the mix. As much as the visuals impress, the gameplay does get repetitive quite quickly. The Dance It Out feature does offer some excellent winning potential though.
