The main source of that action and adventure is the Lost City Adventure Bonus feature - triggered randomly in the base game, you'll first be taken to a hidden chamber and presented with a selection of treasure chest, each offering a cash prize until you find the collect. Once this is done, you'll go forward to the features offered on the left of the screen.
Scorpion Scatter – in this the Scorpion King symbol (The Rock), will become an extra scatter, complete with its own scatter paytable.
Expanding Mummy – does exactly what you'd expect. The standard Mummy wild becomes an expanding wild and covers the entire reel.
Scarab Attack – Opt for this and if the wild hits on reel 3, you'll be awarded a pair of extra wild symbols on reels 2 and 4.
Collapsing Reels – Any symbol that appears in a winning payline will explode and disappear, opening the spot for the symbols above to fall down and create another potentially winning payline. The explosions continue with every winning combination. When there is no winner, the explosions will end.
Mummy Power – Winning combinations containing a Mummy wild will be boosted by a multiplier. One Mummy equals 3x, two is 6x and three a massive 9x. Some bumper payouts are on offer here.
Mummy Respin – If the Mummy wild appears, it will freeze in place with the reels continuing to spin until you find a winning combo.
If you're not all featured out with all those goodies, there's also a Free Games feature on offer which becomes active when the free spins symbol appears on reels 1, 3 and 5. You'll be given 5 free spins plus 1 super spin. Any wilds that hit during the free spins will be 'saved' and added to the reels for the super spin. This is where I’ve had my biggest wins to date.
Lastly there's the Mummy Hunt Bonus feature - look out for the Mummy Hunt Bonus symbol on reels 1 and 5. You have to navigate your way through a dark passage, picking off between 2 and 10 of the advancing Mummies as you go. You'll be awarded cash prizes of up to 3 times your line bet for each one you destroy.
There's plenty to recommend in The Mummy. The graphics, animation and sound are all excellent with clips from the movie punctuating the action on the reels. The features are plentiful, offering a wide variety of gameplay. The overall variance is on the low side so The Mummy probably won't bring the riches of other popular Ancient Egyptian-themed titles (like Book of Ra Deluxe or Pharaoh’s Fortune). It's a real entertainer though and offers plenty in the enjoyment stakes for history and movie buffs alike.
