The Great Ming Empire Slot

The Great Ming Empire is brought to you by Playtech and has 5 reels and 5 paylines. Playable from just 5p a spin to as much as £500 a spin, the game is only playable across desktop (i.e. laptop/PC) devices. The theme is Ancient China as it’s based on the Great Ming Empire who ruled China between 1368 and 1644 (before being outed by the Qing dynasty).

Set in a Ming palace, the slot looks fantastic (as do all Playtech games to be fair) with emperors (Hongwu Emperor), a ship, empresses (Empress Xu) and palaces on the reels. The palace is the wild and substitutes for the emperor and empress and also rewards you with 2,000 times your line stake if you get 5 on the reels.

Despite having 5 paylines, it’s a win both ways slot game meaning you can win both left to right and right to left – in effect, it’s a 10 payline slot game. When it comes to bonus features, there is only 1 to discuss – the Treasure Room Bonus feature.

This is triggered when you get 3 scatters on the reels – the scatters include vases, crystal balls and dynamite sticks encased with dragons. The scatters need to appear on 3 or more consecutive reels and you need 3 of the same kind to appear. You then get to pick 3 items to win cash prizes.

Now, if you triggered the feature with 3 scatters, all wins will be subject to a 1x multiplier. If you triggered with 4 scatters, you wins will be subject to a 3x multiplier. Now, if you were lucky enough to get 5 scatters, your wins will be subject to a massive 10x multiplier.

The only thing letting The Great Ming Empire down is the lack of free spins feature. Saying that, it’s a medium to high volatility offering with plenty of opportunities to win big in both the base game (due to the 2x wild) and the feature (if you get 4 or 5 scatters). Playtech has developed a lot of Chinese themed slot games with Sun Wukong highly recommended.
