The rain swept ruins of Gotham City form the backdrop to the action. On the 3x4x4x4x3 reels, you’ll see A to 9 playing cards, the Batpod, Bane’s car, Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Bane (Tom Hardy). The best paying symbol is Batman (Christian Bale) who get you 25 times your stake if you land 5 on adjacent reels.
The Bat symbol is the wild - it can land on the middle 3 reels only and replaces all other symbols apart from the scatter. Like the other slot games in this series, there’s a decent selection of extras on offer in The Dark Knight Rises.
The Fire Rises feature - this triggers if you fill all of the middle 3 reels with the same matching symbol. Reels 1 and 5 spin again to reveal multipliers, up to 5x, which can combine to boost payouts by up to 25x.
Fusion Reactor Bonus feature - land the scatter on reels 3, 4 and 5 on the same spin to trigger this feature. You’ll first spin a wheel which will award free spins and multipliers for Batman and Bane. Keep spinning until Batman or Bane hit the Start segment. You’ll then play that character’s accumulated free spins complete with multiplier.
If you get The Dark Knight Free Games feature, the Batman symbol turns wild when it hits on reels 2, 3 or 4. The Dark Knight Rises is another enjoyable slot game in the Batman franchise. We didn’t think it as good as The Dark Knight though. The visuals aren’t as sharp and the range of extras isn’t quite as wide. That’s not to say this is a bad game - it’s anything but. The Fusion Reactor Bonus has the potential to be an excellent one, especially if you manage to land the Gotham City Free Games feature.
If you’re a fan of the Batman films or superhero-themed games then this trip to Gotham should still deliver plenty of entertainment. Playtech has lots to offer with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice recommended.
