A ravaged San Francisco (including a ruined Golden Gate Bridge) forms the backdrop to the action here. On the reels you’ll see gadgets, guns, a cyborg hand, a photo and a teddy bear. More rewarding are the character symbols. In order of value are the cyborg, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), John Connor (Jason Clarke) and Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). The top paying standard symbol is of course Arnie, aka The Terminator who awards 2, 10 or 48 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline.
Potentially even more rewarding is the wild – it replaces everything bar the scatter and will get you 4, 40 or 200 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination. The wilds can also deliver multipliers which can send payouts soaring by up to 5x. Playtech has packed in a good range of extras here:
Terminator Car Chase Bonus feature – this can trigger at random on any spin. A car chase takes place with T-100 symbols shot onto the reels. Once all of them are in place, move the target and fire. On offer are cash prizes, respins and multipliers of up to 5x.
Land 3 of the Terminator Genisys logo symbol on the same spin to trigger the main feature rounds. You’ll then be offered the pick of 2 free spin bonus features:
1984 Free Games feature – here you’ll go back in time and try and save Sarah Connor from the Terminators. 10 free spins are awarded. The T-100 symbols can melt and become multiplier wilds. These lock in place until they form part of a winning combination. All of the T-100 symbols are added to the reels for a final free spin which offers some big winning potential. This is the medium variance option.
2017 Free Games feature – once again 10 free spins are awarded. Destroy the projectors above each reel to unleash stacked wilds that stay in position until they make up a winner. This is a high variance option.
Terminator Genisys is just what we’ve come to expect from the Playtech-powered movie tie-in. The design is excellent and will be instantly familiar to anyone who has seen the film. There’s a brooding soundtrack in the background which gives the game a slightly sinister feel. It works very well together.
The features aren’t bad either. As usual there are free spins with some added extras thrown in. It’s nothing we haven’t seen before but again it works very nicely. The film version if Terminator Genisys didn’t really wow audiences or critics. This slot game adaptation is a good one though and certainly worth a look whether or not you’re familiar with the source material.
