Satsumo’s Revenge Slot

The classic fruit machine gets given a martial arts twist in Satsumo’s Revenge. Powered by Playtech, it’s a 5 reel, 25 payline slot game that comes with special wilds that can fill whole reels and treble payouts and a free spins round with sticky wilds. Play, on all devices, from between 25p and £500 per spin.

The design in Satsumo’s Revenge is well put together - the setting is a traditional dojo. There you’ll see lower value A to J playing card symbols alongside 5 fearsome looking martial arts-style fruits. The blueberry and grapes pay 10, 50 or 150 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a line with the lime and strawberry awarding 20, 100 or 300 coins. The best of the standard symbols is the orange Satsumo. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these on a payline and you’ll get 40, 200 or 1,000 coins. There’s also a standard wild that replaces everything bar the scatter.

There’s also a second wild, the shuriken or ninja star - when 1 of these lands on reel 5, you will trigger the Shuriken Wilds feature. The grandmaster will spring into life and turn whole reels wild. That’s not his only magical power - he can also add multipliers into play which could boost your awards – 2x for 2 Shuriken wilds. If you get 3, you could get 1 wild reel with a 3x multiplier, 3 wild reels with 1x multiplier each or 2 wild reels (1 with a 1x multiplier and 1 with a 2x multiplier).

Look out for the fighting fruit symbol which can land on reels 1 and 5 - when it lands on both on the same spin, you’ll trigger the Fighting Free Games feature. Before the free spins begin, choose a fruit - it will then do battle on your behalf in a game of rock paper scissors.

If your fruit wins, 1 extra free spin, complete with a sticky wild, is added to your total. If it’s a draw, you get an extra free spin and don’t lose a life. Lose and you lose a life. Your fruit starts with 5 lives and the contests continue until they are all lost. The free spins, complete with any acquired sticky wilds, then play out.

Satsumo’s Revenge is a very silly game but an entertaining one. The design is nicely done, complete with a traditional Japanese-style backing track. There isn’t a huge amount to report on the features front. The shuriken wild reels can deliver some nice rewards, as can the sticky wilds in the free spins.

We’ve seen plenty of fruit machines and martial arts-themed slot games but none quite as bonkers as Satsumo’s Revenge. If you fancy some simple, slapstick action, this should do the trick. If you like the theme, Ninja Fruits by Play ‘N Go is similar.
