Piggies and the Wolf Slot

The classic tale of The Three Little pigs gets a funky makeover in Piggies and the Wolf, a 5 reel, 50 payline slot from developer Playtech. It comes with free spins, shuffling wilds and a pick me feature. Try and “blow down the house” from between 50p and £5,000 per spin.

If you were expecting classic, children's book animations from Piggies and the Wolf, then think again. The porkers on show here include a redneck pig and a hip-hop pig, all chased by a leather-jacket wearing Big Bad Wolf biker. The cartoon-style images are nicely drawn and set against a pale green shack backdrop making the symbols easy to decipher.

The Big Bad Wolf is the wild and substitutes for every symbol apart from the scatter and bonus. It can appear as a stacked wild on reels 1, 3 and 5. If it fills the whole of reel 5 it will trigger the Huff 'N' Puff Shuffle feature. The wolf will ride in on his motorbike (yes, really) and blow on the symbols on the reels. They'll all be shuffled with any new winning combinations added to the total win. This feature is only on offer during the base game.

Three or more scatter symbols anywhere on reels 1, 3 and 5 trigger the Free Games feature. As well as being awarded 15 free spins, you'll also have the chance to activate the Pigs Running Wild! feature. If the wolf wild appears to the immediate right of one of the 3 pig symbols, he'll chase him across the reels to the left.

Every symbol the wolf passes will be turned into a wild. If there's a pig on reel 4 and the wolf on reel 5 it will fill the entire row which can prove very lucrative indeed. Look out for more scatters too as the Free Games can be triggered indefinitely.

Finally there's the Blow The House Down Bonus feature which is activated when the Bonus symbol appears anywhere on reels 1, 3 and 5. You'll be taken to a new screen where the Wolf will attempt to blow down a straw house. It's a variant on a pick me game.

Choose 2 out of 3 options to try and help the wolf in his quest. Two will award a cash prize, the third blows down the house. Manage this and you'll go on to the wooden house and repeat the process. If you make it to the brick house, the wolf will appear on his bike, offering a choice of 1 out of 3 petrol cans. The prizes get steadily bigger the further you go with the biggest on offer if you manage to blow down the brick house.

The variance in Piggies and the Wolf is in the medium range with the 50 paylines offering a steady stream of payouts. It's certainly possible to secure bigger wins though, especially via the features. Combine the free spins with the running wilds and you can rack up some impressive totals. The features hit on a fairly regular basis keeping the pace pretty high.

The visuals are quality though and it has features to match. Unusual it may be for a fairy tale-themed slot, but Playtech has created another real entertainer in Piggies and the Wolf. If you like pig-themed slots, there’s no better slot than Piggy Riches by Net Entertainment though – it has less features but it is higher variance and a must.
