Jin Qian Wa Slot

Playtech's seemingly inexhaustible supply of Chinese-themed slots expands still further with the addition of Jin Qian Wa. This one is a 5 reel, 40 payline affair that comes with stacked wilds and a free spin feature. Stakes start at 40p per spin, rising to a massive £2,000 per spin for the super high rollers.

The imagery on show in Jin Qian Wa has a traditional feel - symbols spinning round the deep reed reels include Chinese style playing cards from A to 10 alongside turtle, elephant and dragon statues. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these for a payout of 15, 70 or 250 times your line bet. The black and white yin and yang motif is the top payer of the standard symbols, offering between 30 and 400 coins.

The golden frog, complete with gem encrusted tongue is the game's wild - it replaces everything bar the scatter and awards payouts of 50, 200 or 1,000 coins for a 3, 4 or 5 symbol combo. It can appear as stacked on all 5 reels.

The Chinese letters symbol is the scatter and the key to unlocking Jin Qian Wa's only feature. When it hits on reels 2, 3 and 4 you'll trigger the Free Games feature and be awarded 8 free spins. That may not sound like much but there are chances to re-trigger more chunks of them if the scatters land again. Your winning opportunities are boosted too with the addition of extra stacked wild symbols which will be in play throughout the feature.

Jin Qian Wa is a typically solid offering from the Playtech stable - the visuals, without being especially spectacular, are nicely done and the on screen action is accompanied by a warm, Chinese-themed backing track. The same solid description could be applied to the features.

There's no re-inventing the wheel here but what's on offer is perfectly serviceable - we found Jin Qian Wa to be a medium variance slot. There are plenty of winning opportunities available in the base game thanks to the 40 paylines. You won't be left hanging on for ages to trigger the feature round either. The extra stacked wilds can certainly help during the free spins too.

If you're a fan of the Asian slot genre, then Jin Qian Wa is certainly one to consider. However, it’s identical in terms of gameplay to Playtech’s Queen of Wands which has a better theme in my opinion.
