Jackpot Giant Slot

Travel back in time to the Stone Age in Jackpot Giant, a caveman-themed slot from Playtech. Released in May 2015, this 5 reel, 50 payline title matches its name by offering life-changing amounts of coins via its progressive jackpot feature. Stakes range from between 50p and £4 per spin.

So how can you land the big one? It sounds simple enough. Just bet the maximum £4 per spin, find a 5 wild combination right across payline one and a potentially enormous jackpot will be heading your way. If only it was that simple. Of course it isn't, and luckily Jackpot Giant has some other features to keep the action rolling.

Chief among them is The Giant Bonus feature, a classic pick me round, which becomes active (no pun intended) when the wild volcano symbols appear anywhere on reels 1 and 5. You'll then be presented with a selection of 6 volcanoes – you need to choose 3 of them.

The giant will toss a coin into each chosen volcano unleashing a torrent of gold coins to reveal the exact amount won. It's also possible to get an Extra Pick or scoop all six cash prizes if fortune is smiling and you land the Win 'Em All option. Don’t expect to win too much though (on average between 20 and 30 times your stake). Jackpot Giant also comes with stacked symbols which occupy two vertical reel positions providing an occasional nice boost to your wins.

Jackpot Giant looks excellent. The reels include a selection of brightly coloured crystals, a forest landscape and of course the jackpot giant himself. The stone-style playing card symbols wouldn't look out of place in Stonehenge, or maybe a Las Vegas copy of Stonehenge. The reels are set against a mountain skyline. Everything is clear, sharp and easily identifiable. The soundtrack is a catchy little ditty too.

On the variance scale, Jackpot Giant sits in the medium range. The regular small payouts are regularly punctuated by larger ones, especially when The Giant Bonus hits. It's a shame that Playtech didn't put more features into this slot. There are no free spins or multipliers to speak of.

Of course the main attraction is the massive progressive jackpot which stands at over €1.9m at the time of writing. For that reason alone, it's worth giving Jackpot Giant a closer look. I do prefer other jackpot slots like Gladiator Jackpot (as I love the film!) and Mega Fortune (by Net Entertainment) which typically offer big jackpots and better bonus features.
