Playtech hasn't scrimped on the images and sound in Fortune Hill. It looks a treat with superb graphics and animations. The backdrop is reminiscent of The Shire from the Lord of the Rings films with the reels containing a wizard, elf, ogre, a fairy and a pocket watch as well as the standard low value playing card symbols.
The images are superbly done and are crystal clear against the mountain skyline backdrop. The wizard acts as the wild and substitutes for all symbols apart from the bonus and free games. Find 5 wizards in a payline and you'll conjure up a magical payout of 5,000 coins.
Accompanying all the action on the reels is a water wheel on the right hand of the screen which offers a selection of goodies with each spin. If the pointer lands on the money bag, you'll be awarded a cash prize of between 2x and 6x your total stake. Multipliers of 3x or 4x are also on offer. Look out too for the wizard's hat which triggers the Wondrous Wizard Re-spin Mini-feature where you'll be awarded three re-spins, complete with frozen wilds.
If the pointer lands on the magic wand, you'll be awarded one of two bonuses – the Fairy Feature gives you either a cash prize of between 6 and 15 times your stake, regardless of the result of the latest spin and reels 2 and 4 will be turned into expanding wilds, greatly enhancing the chance of a win.
You also have the Magic Mushroom Bonus feature which is activated when the Mushroom symbols hits on reels 1 and 5. You'll be presented with a classic pick me round. The variance in Fortune Hill is on the low side so there's plenty of value to be had regardless of the size of your bankroll. The entertaining features match the fine visuals on show in Fortune Hill which all adds up to an excellent overall package. This is one hill we'd be happy to climb again and again. I quite like Fortune Hill which is superb in terms of entertainment value – if you prefer something a little more volatile, you cannot go wrong with The Avengers (also by Playtech) which offers it all in my opinion.
