Batman & The Penguin Prize Slot

After battling the Riddler, Catwoman and the Joker, the Caped Crusader and trusty sidekick Robin lock horns with another Gotham City supervillain in Batman & The Penguin Prize. This unusual slot game is played using a 3 reel, 64 ways to win game engine in the base game but offers re-spins that play with 4,096 ways to win and giant symbols. Stakes range from between 25p and £125 per spin.

Just like the other games in Playtech's Gotham City series, the design in Batman & The Penguin Prize takes its cue from the classic 1960s TV series that starred Adam West as the millionaire superhero. The visuals are top notch as usual and are complemented by a suitably cheesy backing track. A gold star for the look and sound here.

The gameplay is certainly a little unusual as the base game plays out on a 3 reel, 4 row game engine. Symbols on show include a Baterang, a statue, a brolly, a top hat, Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred, Robin, The Penguin (played by Burgess Meredith) and Batman himself. They're joined by the Batman logo which is the wild and substitutes for all other symbols.

Every time you land a winning combination, you'll trigger the Penguin Respins feature - a respin (the Penguin Respin 1) is played out on the 3 reel, 4 row game engine to the right of the main reels. With extra stacked symbols, you will trigger another respin, the Penguin Respin 2, if you land a winner including the Penguin.

This is played out on a new 6 reel, 4 row machine that features double symbols (2x2 Super Symbols) and a whopping 4,096 ways to win. If you land winning combination that includes the Penguin, you'll receive another respin - the Penguin Respin 3. This one is also played using a 4,096 ways to win set up, this time featuring massive 3x3 Mega Symbols that make hitting winning combinations that much easier.

The respins are the only feature on offer here - unlike the other Batman-themed slot games, there aren't any traditional free spins available. With the respins being triggered after every winning spin, you won't have to wait long to hit them. The bigger payouts come from the second and especially the third respins so you'll need to get on a roll to secure a decent haul. Manage that and the 3x3 Mega Symbols can produce some fine results.

This is another solid Batman-themed outing from Playtech. It doesn't quite hit the heights of the others in the series though. If you enjoy the respin feature, tuck in. If you prefer the same retro theme with more variety, then Batman & The Riddler Riches should be more to your liking.
