There’s a comic book feel to the design here which is very nicely done. In the background, you’ll see a viking village. On the reels are A to J symbols alongside a raven, a wolf and a young Viking woman. The older warrior is the most rewarding symbol, paying 1, 4 or 20 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline.
The shield is the wild. This offers the same payouts as the Viking warrior as well as substituting for all of the standard symbols. There’s a good selection of extras on offer in Vikings Fortune: Hold and Win.
Free Spins feature - this round is triggered by landing the treasure chest scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. After a payout of 5 times your total stake, you’ll go on to play 8 free spins. The higher value symbols plus and golden coin bonus symbol can spin in 2x2 or even 3x3 colossal symbol blocks during the feature. Landing 3 scatters on the same spin adds another 8 free spins to your total.
Bonus Game feature - you’ll need to land 5 or more golden coin bonus symbols on the same spin to activate this round. You’ll then be taken to a new set of reels that are made up of blanks and gold coin symbols only. Each coin comes with a cash value attached. You’ll then be awarded 3 re-spins. If a new coin joins the cluster, the number of re-spins resets to 3. When your re-spins are complete, all the cash values are added together and that’s the amount you’ll win. You can trigger the Bonus Game feature from within the base game or the Free Spins feature.
There are also 3 potential jackpot prizes on offer here, all of which are triggered from the Bonus Game feature. Land a Mini Jackpot or Major coin to trigger the Mini or Major Jackpot – these are worth 30 and 100 times your stake respectively. To land the Grand Jackpot, you’ll need to fill all 15 reel positions in the Bonus Game feature with coins – this would lead to a 1,000 times stake payout.
We liked Vikings Fortune: Hold and Win. The visuals are impressively done and the gameplay offers some solid action. We’ve seen these features in plenty of other slots but free spins with colossal symbols and streak re-spins are always a good combination. The variance is in the medium, nudging to the high range – you can win 1,435 times your stake on each spin which is decent.
If you like an epic Norse saga, then Vikings Fortune: Hold and Win is another slot game to add to your list. I would also recommend you try Vikings from Net Entertainment which is based on the superb television series and offers wins of up to 10,000 times your stake on each free spin.
