Head to the track
A floodlit greyhound stadium is the setting for Wildhound Derby. As well as the lower value A to J symbols you’ll see a form book, tickets and a rosette symbol. The top standard symbol is the bundle of cash. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these for a payout of 4, 12 or 100 times your stake. Those same amounts are on offer from the wild (the trophy) which also substitutes for all the standard symbols. There are also 4 wild dogs.
Dog Race feature
The main feature in Wildhound Derby is the Dog Race feature. It’s triggered by landing 4 wild dog symbols on reel 5. Before the action starts, choose 1 of the dogs which you hope will win the race. The free spins then begin. If a wild dog appears on the same row as a golden hare, it moves 1 reel to the left. The free spins continue until the first wild dog reaches reel 1 and is declared the winner.
Winner’s Wheel feature
If your chosen dog wins the race, you’ll get a spin in the Winner’s Wheel feature. The bonus wheel contains multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x and 15x. Depending on where the pointer lands, you’ll receive one of these multipliers which is then applied to your total wins from the free spins round.
Simple but effective (and very volatile)
We’ve seen plenty of horse racing slots before but never one based on greyhounds. Play ’N Go has done a good job filling that gap. They’ve kept to their usual simple formula and it works very well. The design is nicely done and the free spins round offers plenty of potential.
With maximum wins of 1,000 times your stake on each spin or free spin, the potential 15x multiplier in the Winner’s Wheel feature can lead to 15,000 x stake wins on every free spin. The likelihood is small though as the variance here is stratospherically high. Wildhound Derby is another winner from Play ’N Go though and with a theme that offers a different experience.
If you want big wins from Play ‘N Go slots, ancient Egyptian themed Ankh of Anubis also offers 15,000 x stake wins – if you fancy playing it safe, the Book of Dead slot is their most popular title.
