A purple-tinged forest is the setting for Firefly Frenzy. On the reels you’ll see 4 shining crystals and 4 higher paying flora symbols. The best of these pays 3, 15 or 30 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. Those same top payout amounts are on offer from the firefly which is the game’s wild. This can land anywhere on the reels and substitute for all of the standard symbols.
The firefly wilds can also come with multipliers attached which can double or treble payouts if they form part of a winning combination. Better still is if you land more than 1 firefly wild in the same winning line. The multipliers are combined and can send the line payout rocketing by up to 243x (five 3x wild multipliers).
The moon is the scatter. Only 1 of these can land on each spin. If a firefly wild lands on the moon, you’ll trigger the game’s Frenzy Spins feature and with it, 8 free spins. The value of the wild on the triggering spin is the lowest the wild multiplier can be during those free spins. For example, if you landed a 2x firefly wild on the triggering spin, all the firefly wilds in the feature would be 2x or higher.
Re-triggers can hit in the same way and deliver another 8 free spins. The wild that landed the re-trigger is the new lowest multiplier value. Like in the base game, wild multipliers can combine to give you 243x multipliers.
Like most slot games in the Play ’N Go catalogue, Firefly Frenzy is a supremely volatile game. We’re talking 10/10 on the variance front. There will be spells when your bankroll will fly away. Get lucky with the wild multipliers and the coins and really motor – with wins of 10,000 times your stake on each spin or free spin.
If you like simple slot games that deliver feast or famine rewards, then that’s just what you’ll find in the exciting Firefly Frenzy. If you want multiplier wilds, Crystal Sun (also by Play ‘N Go) is my choice and is a better and more volatile version of Net Entertainment’s Starburst.
