Cats and Cash Slot

Imagine a TV gameshow hosted by and starring an array of flashy pooches and you'll have an idea of what to expect in Cats and Cash, a 5 reel, 15 payline video slot from Play ‘N Go. This strange feline hybrid comes with wheel of fortune and pick me bonus features and offers jackpots of up to 10,000 coins. Play from between 15p and 75p per spin.

The online slots world is no stranger to bizarre theme mash ups and Cash and Cats is up there with the weirdest. The reels include a quartet of well-dressed cats as well as a cash, diamonds and gold bars on the reels. The gold bar is the top payer of the standard symbols, offering payouts of 2,500 times your line bet if you find 5 in a payline.

Joining them is a goldfish bowl which acts as the scatter and pays out 400 times your total bet if you find 5 in a line. There's also a wild, what looks like a cheesy cat-style TV gameshow host, who will give you a massive 10,000 coins if you find a five symbol combo. All wins that feature the wild symbol are subject to a 2x multiplier and doubled.

There are two other symbols which will trigger the 2 features on offer. Find 3 Bonus symbols and you'll activate the Wheel of Fortune – then spin the wheel. Wherever the pointer lands, you'll be awarded a cash prize of between 20 and 5,000 coins. If you get lucky, you may be offered a re-spin, giving a second opportunity to win a bonus extra.

Find 3 or more of the present symbol and you'll trigger the Pick Me Bonus feature. Select 1 of the 10 gifts shown and you'll win a cash prize ranging from between 5 and 2,000 coins. It's a bit like Deal or No Deal in that the other prizes are revealed one by one, showing what you could have won. That can especially galling if you've only managed to pick up the minimum prize. You can skip this and reveal them all at once if you prefer.

The cartoon-style visuals are purrfectly well done with the on screen action played out to what sounds like a TV gameshow theme tune and rounds of applause. It's all a bit weird truth be told. The features aren't bad and offer some decent rewards. The lack of any free spins is a bit of a let-down though.

If you're a cat lover and enjoyed slots such as Kitty Glitter you'll find much to like here. For the rest of us, Cats and Cash is more of a curiosity. It's worth a look but we probably won't be returning too often. This is one of Play ‘N Go’s first slot games and it’s showing its age unfortunately – I much prefer more innovative and volatile titles like Wild North or Eye of the Kraken.
