Novomatic has kept things fairly simple as far as the design of Vampire Fortunes goes. You’ll see a dusky cemetery behind the reels. On those plain black reels are lower value A to 9 royal symbols as well as rings, jewelled bats, goblets and bottles of potion. Top the bill here is the hooded female vampire which pays 1, 3 or 12 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination.
The game comes with 2 different wilds. Both of them substitute for everything apart from the crystal ball scatter. The blue wild can appear on reels 2 and 4. The red wild can hit on the middle reel only. This one is a multiplier wild that doubles the award when it makes up part of a winning combination.
The Free Games feature is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters from left to right on the same spin. After a payout of 5, 10 or 50 times your stake, you’ll then go on to play 10 free spins. These free spins take place on a new game engine that is made up solely of the higher paying symbols. All of the royal symbols are removed for the duration here. You can also retrigger the feature infinitely.
The other extra to take note of is the Jackpot feature - this round can trigger on any spin where a wild hits. You’ll then have to choose from 12 items. Each pick will reveal a coloured gemstone. When you have 3 of the same colour that match, you’ll win the associated Mini, Minor, Major or Grand Jackpot.
It doesn’t deliver much in the ways of chills but this horror adventure is nicely done. The visuals are neatly crafted and the soundtrack is a cracker (not something we often write about a Novomatic slot game). The gameplay is as stripped back as we’ve come to expect from a title from this developer too. As is the variance which is medium to high with payouts of 1,200 times your stake on each spin/free spin involving the red wild.
Vampire Fortunes is identical, in terms of gameplay, to Pyramid Fortunes. We liked the combination of classy design, straightforward features and volatile action in that Egyptian-themed slot game. Expect more of the same in this entertaining horror-themed accompaniment. If vampires are your thing, the iconic Immortal Romance from Microgaming is well worth seeking your teeth into.
