The imagery is very similar to the other 2 slot games in the Tales of Darkness series - the same cemetery is the setting. On the reels are Gothic style A to 9 royal values plus three sets of lamps and candelabra. The best of the standard symbols is the black horse. Land 5 of these on 1 of the game’s 50 paylines and you’ll ride away with a payout of 3 times your total stake. There are 2 wilds in the base game. Both the male and female vampire substitute for all other symbols bar the scatter.
Land 3, 4 or 5 of the full moon scatter and you’ll pocket an award of 1, 5 or 20 times your total stake. You’ll also trigger the Free Games feature - on offer here are 15 free spins. These are played out on a 100 rather than 50 payline machine.
The wilds are a little different in the feature too. Joining the male and female vampire wilds is a combined vampire wild. All 3 of them hit on the middle reel only. When they land, they expand and fill the whole of that reel. The expanded male wild then moves to the adjacent reel to the right while the female moves to the reel to the left. This is known as the Break of Dawn Bonus feature.
These new wilds are in play for the next 2 free spins. You’ll also get 2 more free spins. The combined stacked wild has the potential to be even better. This splits and moves both left and right for 2 free spins. Again 2 extra free spins are added to your tally.
Tales of Darkness: Break of Dawn has many similarities to the other slot games in this horror-themed series. The design is simple but has a suitably creepy feel. The base game action is pretty straightforward, but the Free Games feature has the potential to be very exciting thanks to the expanding wandering wilds.
If you’ve enjoyed the other Tales of Darkness titles or you’re just after an extremely volatile game with a hint of horror, then Tales of Darkness: Break of Dawn should do the trick. I recommend you try Tales of Darkness: Lunar Eclipse which is the best in the series.
