Finn and the Swirly Spin Slot

Join a lucky leprechaun called Finn in Finn and the Swirly Spin, an avalanche reels slot game from Net Entertainment. It’s played on a 5x5 grid and comes with 4 random base game extras and 4 different free spins rounds. Play, on all devices, from between 10p and £200 per spin.

The design in Finn and the Swirly Spin has a very modern and fresh look as a tranquil, 3D valley forms the backdrop to the reels which include heart, diamond, club and spade symbols alongside a 4-leaf clover, a horse shoe and an acorn. The top standard symbol is the red gemstone which pays 20, 100 or 500 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 in combination. Winners are created by landing 3 or more matching symbols vertically or horizontally.

The game is played using avalanche reels - symbols are removed and replaced with each winning spin. Keep a special eye out for the gold star wild. When a wild forms part of win, all of the symbols horizontally and vertically adjacent will explode. If the win doesn’t feature a wild, a wild is created in the place of 1 of the symbols that’s been exploded. There are 4 random extras that can hit in the base game:

  • Starfall Wilds feature - 2 to 5 wilds are added to the reels. If you don’t land a winner with that spin, more wilds are added until you do hit a winner.
  • Dragon Destroy feature - the Dragon destroys a random selection of symbols to create a winning combination.
  • Irish Luck feature - matching symbols are added to a horizontal or vertical line to create a winner.
  • Magic Transform feature - all of the hearts and spades transform into higher value symbols.

You’ll see a gold key in the bottom left corner of the reels in the base game. This works its way around the reels with each avalanche. When it reaches the middle position of the central reel, you’ll trigger the free spins round. The more times you trigger the free spins, the more possible options you’ll unlock:

  • Star Bar Free Spins feature - this is available following the first trigger. You’ll receive 7 free spins with 2 to 5 Starfall Wilds added on each free spin.
  • Lava Lair Free Spins feature - you’ll need 4 keys to unlock this round. Here you’ll get 3 free spins with the Dragon Destroy extras. A sticky wild will be in play throughout those free spins too.
  • Lucky Mug Free Spins feature - this round is similar to the Irish Luck feature from the base game with matching symbols added. You’ll need 9 keys to play this one – you’ll get 4 free spins.
  • Golden Pot Free Spins feature - 2 free spins are awarded here complete with the heat and space symbols transforming into a better paying symbol. 16 keys are required to unlock this round.

This is a bit of a departure for a Net Entertainment game - the design is as good as ever and the avalanche reels gameplay offers something different. The randomly triggered extras deliver plenty of action in the base game and the free spins round offers some decent potential.

Finn and the Swirly Spin is an unusual take on the leprechaun theme. If you fancy trying to get some Irish luck then it’s worth a look. If you want something more traditional, you cannot go wrong with Rainbow Riches from Barcrest.
