There’s a gentle feel to the design in Butterfly Staxx 2. The setting is a magical garden. On the reels are lower value royals as well as a selection of more rewarding flower symbols. The butterfly is the most lucrative symbol, awarding double your stake if you land 5 on a payline. There’s also a wild that replaces everything apart from the scatter. There’s a good variety of features on offer on Butterfly Staxx 2.
Re-Spins feature - land a full stack of butterfly symbols and they all shift to the left-hand reel. A re-spin then follows with the butterfly stack locking in position. If a butterfly symbol lands on the re-spin, it too shifts as far left as it can and another re-spin is awarded. These re-spins continue as long as a new butterfly lands. So far, so standard. Get stacks of butterflies to fill the whole of reels 1 and 2 and you’ll activate a second set of reels. The stacked butterflies are active on this second set too.
Better still is if you get full stacks of butterflies on reels 1, 2 and 3 as this unlocks a third machine (which trebles your winning potential). The reels spin independently of each other on each machine. Butterflies on each machine shift left when they land. A final payout calculation is made when no new butterflies land or you’ve filled the whole of the screen with butterflies.
The 2 other features are triggered by landing 3 scatters on the same spin. You’ll then have the choice of the following bonus features. First up is the Butterfly Spins feature - on offer here are 5 free spins. The reels here are made up of active and dormant cocoon symbols. An active cocoon turns into a butterfly and flies to the left of the reels. A new payout consideration is made following each spin
Then there’s the Butterfly Frenzy feature - here you’ll see swarms of butterflies float up the screen. Click on them to reveal cash prizes or level upgrades. You’ll have 10 picks to begin with. Land an upgrade and the picks reset to 10. There are 5 levels to work through with potential rewards increasing the further you progress.
Was the world really crying out for a sequel to Butterfly Staxx? Net Entertainment obviously thinks so. They’ve done a decent enough job with this sequel which combines classy design with some very playable extras. It’s not the most explosive game you’ll see in terms of variance but all 3 extras offer some potential. If you enjoyed the original. then expect more of the same in Butterfly Staxx 2.
If you want a sequel that deserved to be made, Dead or Alive II from Net Entertainment is it – you can win a whopping 111,111.11 times your stake from 1 of the free spins features.
