There’s an epic feel to the design here - with heaven on 1 side and hell on the other, the action is watched over by a female angel with a magical spear and a sword-wielding demon.
The 6 row, 12 payline game engine is a little unusual, especially for a NetEnt-powered game. The reels feature lower value playing card suits which pay up to 30 coins per payline, medium value helmet, bear and skull symbols which award up to 50 coins and high value angel and demon symbols which pay 150 coins if you land 6 on a line. The latter 2 can spin in full stacks and fill entire reels. There’s also a wild which can spin singly or in 2x2 blocks.
The top 2 and bottom 2 rows are the Hot Spot Areas and become active if you land a wild in them. They will then trigger the following bonus features:
- Heaven feature - this is triggered when a wild block or part of a wild block lands in the top Hot Spot Area. A partial 2x2 block adds 2 stacks of 4-high wilds onto the reels. A full 2x2 block adds 4 wild stacks into play. A new payout is then made with all the extra wilds in place.
- Hell feature - this round is triggered in the same way as the Heaven Feature except that the wild lands in the bottom rather than the top Hot Spot Zone. On offer here are 8 or 16 single wilds. Again, a new payout follows once the wilds are in position.
Hope to see wilds land in the Hot Spot Areas during the Heaven and Hell rounds as they trigger a Feature Reactivation. 1 stack of 4 wilds or 4 singleton wilds are added for each retriggering wild.
Archangels: Salvation also comes with a Free Spins feature which is triggered by landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 of the scatter on the same spin. You’ll then receive 10, 15, 20 or 25 free spins. The Hot Spots zones expand to 3 rows during the free spins, making it that much easier to trigger the Heaven and Hell features.
This is Net Entertainment’s first ever 100-payline slot game and by and large it works rather well. Despite the game area being expanded, the imagery is clear and crisp. The animations are nicely done and there’s a sweeping soundtrack playing in the background to accompany your spins.
The game really crackles into life when you trigger the features. They’re not the easiest to come by but the extra wilds can quickly have a big impact. The Free Spins feature is none too shabby either.
