As you’d expect from a leprechaun-themed slot game, there’s a green tinge to the design in Rainbrew. The reels are set within the pipes of a brewery. You’ll see an assortment of Celtic-style shapes as well as pipes, tankards of ale, kegs of beer and a female elf. The best paying symbol is the lucky leprechaun who awards 2, 5 or 8 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on adjacent reels.
Joining the standard wild are 2 other wilds. There’s the blue Top Wild on reel 2 and the green Bottom Wild on reel 4. These are instrumental in triggering 1 of the game’s 2 features.
Sidewinder feature - land the blue Top Wild on reel 2 to activate the horizontal reel above the main set. The green Bottom Wild activates the horizontal reel below. With 1 horizontal reel active, the number of ways to win increases to 576. With both active, you’ll spin with 1,125 ways to win.
Free Spins feature - land 3 or 4 Rainbrew symbols on the same spin and you’ll receive 6 or 10 free spins. During these free spins, the top and bottom horizontal reels are active throughout, offering 1,125 ways to win. If a wild lands in the same position on both of the horizontal reels, the wild will join to create a stacked wild. Every time a Rainbrew symbol lands on either of the horizontal reels, 1 extra free spin is added to your total.
The gameplay in Rainbrew is a little unusual and the horizontal reels certainly offer something a little different. There’s a decent amount of action on offer with the variance in the medium range. You can win up to 2,720 times your stake on every free spin if you’re lucky.
It’s not the most spectacular game you’ll see, either in design or gameplay but Rainbrew is a solid overall performer if you’re a fan of the Irish fortune theme.
