Icy Gems Slot

Simple, repetitive, volatile action is what’s on offer in Icy Gems. This 5 reel, 20 payline slot game has been created by Just For The Win/Microgaming and comes with re-spins following every winning spin. Land 3 wins in a row to trigger the Superspin feature where the reels will feature just 3, 2 or 1 symbol. Play on PC, tablet or mobile from between 10p and £100 per spin.

Like most things in Icy Gems, the design here is simply done. The reels include lower paying A to J symbols plus 4 more lucrative jewels. Top of the payers is the Icy Gems logo. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these in combination and you’ll pocket an award equal to 1.5, 10 or 50 times your total stake. There’s also a wild that can land anywhere on the reels. It doesn’t offer any pays but it does substitute for all other symbols.

The gameplay offers something a little different. Land a winner and you’ll be awarded a re-spin. The symbol from that winner is then frozen in the Symbol Storage to the left of the reels. Land another winner on that re-spin and the process is repeated. The aim is to fill all 3 of the Symbol Storage blocks. Manage that and you’ll trigger the Superspin feature.

During the feature, the reels are filled with the symbols from the Symbol Storage blocks. For example, if the Symbol Storage contained Q, K and blue jewel symbols then those are the only symbols that would hit during the Super Spin. Of course what you’re really hoping to do is land successive winners made up of the same symbol. Manage that and you could fill the reels with a single symbol with results to match.

Icy Gems might have a cool theme but the volatility is very fiery. This is a high variance game with top rewards of over 1,210 times your stake on each spin/re-spin. You can expect some seriously chilly runs. Get lucky with the Superspin feature though and you could land an explosion of coins.

This isn’t the flashiest of slot games as far as visuals go. It’s all functional enough though and does the job. It’s the unusual features that make this work a look. If you’re after something volatile this winter, then Icy Gems is a decent place to start. I would also recommend Galactic Streak from Playtech which is just as simple.
