Rough seas, bobbing barrels and a pirate ship form the backdrop to the action here. On the black reels you’ll see playing card symbols as well as a ship’s wheel, a treasure chest, a buff deckhand and a mysterious woman. The pirate skipper is the top symbol. Land 2, 3, 4,5 or 6 of these for a payout of 1, 2.5, 5, 12.5 or 25 times your stake. There’s also a standard wild that can land anywhere apart from reel 1.
Joining the standard wild is the 2x multiplier wild. As you’d expect, this doubles the payout when it forms part of a winner. It’s possible to land 3 multipliers wilds in the same winner. When that happens, the multipliers are combined so you’ll receive an 8x payout boost.
The action here takes place using the Megaways game mechanic from Big Time Gaming. The number of symbols on each of the 6 reels changes with each spin. This alters the number of active Megaways too. These can range from between 64 and 117,649 – the more symbols per reel, the more Megaways basically.
After a winner hits, the successful symbols are removed and new ones drop in from above and replace them. The tumbles keep on coming as long as a new winning combination is created. Land 4 or more tumble wins in a row to trigger the Free Spins feature.
Landing 4 successive tumbles awards the Free Spins feature with 8 free spins. Each tumble on top of that adds another 2 free spins to your total, up to a maximum of 14. If any reels are at their full size of 7 symbols high on the triggering spin, they will remain that size for the duration of the feature.
Each locked reel also increases a multiplier by 1x. Every time you land a tumbling win during the free spins, a multiplier increases by 1x. There’s no limit as to how high this can go. You can add to your free spins by landing 4 or more consecutive tumble wins.

Pirate Kingdom Megaways also allows you to buy your way into the Free Spins feature – you can choose from 3 free spins options (6, 8 or 10) and the number of lock reels (with 7 symbols). 10 free spins with 1 locked reel number will cost you 130 times your stake though.
Great 1st Megaways slot game from Iron Dog Studio
We’ve seen plenty of slot games with a similar range of features. Pirate Kingdom Megaways is all very well put together though and the Free Spins feature, complete with increasing multipliers, can be well worth hitting. Medium variance, you can win up to 40,000 times your stake on each spin or free spin – overall, a good first Megaways outing from Iron Dog Studio. If you like the Megaways mechanic, my favourite is Kingmaker from Big Time Gaming.
