We’ve come to expect excellent design from Blueprint Gaming slots, so it was a bit of a surprise to see something quite as basic as Pirates’ Frenzy. The visuals here are very simply done. Set against the backdrop of blue tropical seas, the reels are made up of A to 10 royals as well as an orange (no scurvy here), pouches full of coins, a bottle of grog and an anchor.
The best standard symbol is the parrot. This awards 0.5, 5, 20, 200 or 400 x stake if you land 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination. This bearded pirate skipper is the wild. This pays 1, 10, 50, 500 or 1,000 x stake per payline.
Activate the 6th reel?
The first decision you’ll have to make when firing up Pirates’ Frenzy is how many reels to play with. The standard game offers 5 reels. Double your stakes to activate the Extra Bet feature which takes the reels up to 6. This also means potentially much larger payouts if you land a 6 on a payline combination.
Up to 50 free spins
The pirate ship symbol is the scatter. Land 3, 4, 5 or 6 of these anywhere on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature and with it 10, 15, 20 or 50 free spins. You’ll notice that the money pouch symbols come with coin values attached. When the skipper wild appears, all the coin values from the money pouches are awarded. Each one of these pays between 1 and 25 x your stake.
Simple but rewarding
Many slots from Blueprint Gaming are filled with modifiers and bonus feature so it was rather surprising to find something so straightforward here. It’s certainly not the developer’s flashiest slot, either in terms of design or gameplay.
The Free Spins feature plus extras and the large payouts from the 6 in a row combinations make the medium to high variance Pirates’ Frenzy worth considering though. If you fill the reels with the pirate wild symbol, you’ll win 10,000 x stake per spin. If you want high paying slots that are simple, Blueprint Gaming has plenty – 1 of their best titles is Grizzly Gold.
