There’s a glitzy look to the design here. Sophisticated it ain’t. On the reels you’ll see A, K and Q symbols as well as beachside cocktails, a bottle of champagne and bricks of cash. The best of the standard symbols is the bright red sports car that pays 0.5, 2 or 5 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. Potentially far more rewarding is the wild - as well as replacing all of the standard symbols, it also offers awards of 0.5, 2 or 250 times your stake.
Land 3 or more of the Super StarTurns logo scatter on the same spin to trigger the Super StarTurns Bonus feature. Depending on how many scatters you landed, you’ll get 1 spin on the green, blue or red bonus wheels. The awards on offer from each vary:
- Green Wheel - depending on where the pointer lands, you’ll win 4 and 8 free spins are get an upgrade to the Blue Wheel.
- Blue Wheel - this offers between 8 and 12 free spins, cash awards equal to between 20 and 50 times your total stake or an upgrade to the top Red Wheel.
- Red Wheel - here you can look forward to a payout of between 250 or 500 times your stake or between 25 and 50 free spins.
If you end up in the Free Spins Bonus feature, they’re played on a new set of reels where the lower value A, K and Q symbols are removed. Every time a scatter lands on reel 5, 1 extra free spin is added to your total.
You’ll also have the option to up your stakes and play in Big Bet feature - this is a series of 5 linked spins. These will set you back £20, £30 or £50 and come with oversized scatters, increased paytable and even bigger rewards if you land the Super Star Wheel.
There’s a decidedly cheesy feel to Super StarTurns which has the feel of a glossy 1990s ITV gameshow. We weren’t exactly bowled over by it either. The design is simple and grating soundtrack quickly had us reaching for the mute button.
The gameplay doesn’t offer the widest variety either. Unlocking the Super StarTurns wheels are the key to success. Even then you need to get to the Red Reel to land something big. Medium variance, you can win 10,000 times your stake if you fill the reels with wilds. If you do so using the £50 Big Bet, it doubles to 20,000 times your stake.
This theme isn’t usually one of our favourites and sadly, Barcrest hasn’t managed to win us over with Super StarTurns. I would rather play ELK Studios’ Hit It Big which has a gameshow theme.
