Excalibur’s Choice Slot

Take a trip to historic Camelot in Excalibur’s Choice, a simple 5 reel, 10 payline slot game based on King Arthur’s famous sword. It’s a simple game but there’s some decent potential on offer from the feature that awards up to 20 free spins with a special expanding symbol. Play on all devices from between 10p and £500 per spin.

Excalibur’s Choice won’t be winning awards for its design which is, let’s be generous and call it basic. The sandy coloured reels include lower value, mediaeval-style royal values. The payouts increase with the ring and crown symbols which pay up to 50 times your total stake per payline. Next come the knight which pays up to 75 and the castle which award up to 200 times your stake.

The bearded figure of King Arthur is the best payer, awarding 1, 10, 100 or 500 times your stake if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination. The sword in the stone is the wild. It replaces all other symbols as well as paying 2, 20 or 200 times your stake. The sword serves a dual purpose, acting as a bonus-triggering scatter as well as a wild.

Land 3 or more of them on the same spin and it will bring the Free Games feature into play - your reward is 10 free spins. Before the feature begins, 1 of the symbols is chosen at random. Whenever this symbol hits during the free spins round, it will expand and fill the whole of that reel. The special expanding symbols don’t need to be next to each other to create a winning combination. Landing 3 or more swords will get you another round of free spins.

Excalibur’s Choice is a very basic game. The sound and visuals are pretty tired compared to many recently released slot games. The gameplay is also very simple. If you’re looking for fresh features and funky design, then you definitely won’t find it here.

On the plus side the payouts are pretty decent if you manage to land a 5 of a kind winner. Get a high value expander in the Free Games feature and you could win up to 500 times your stake. Saying that, we weren’t bowled over by Excalibur’s Choice. The staid design and limited gameplay were a bit of a disappointment. The game engine is also a rip-off from Novomatic which many slot games offering the same bonus feature.
