Sword of Destiny started life as a land-based slot game and it shows in the design as the screen is divided into 2. The reels are at the bottom with large images of the main characters at the top - very impressive it all looks too. All of the symbols relate to the fantastical theme.
You’ll see necklaces, scrolls, gloves, flasks and castle spinning around the reels. They’re joined by a sword lady, a sword man and an armour woman. The latter pair are the most rewarding, paying 200 coins if you land 5 on a payline. There’s also a wild that replaces everything bar the bonus and XZONE symbols.
Spicing up the base game are 4 bonus features that can land at random on any spin. In each case, the reels expand to offer 50 paylines instead of the usual 25:
- Clumped Wilds feature - between 1 and 3 reels will be filled with clumped wilds.
- Random Wilds feature - between 4 and 9 extra wilds are added at random throughout the reels.
- Grouped Wilds feature - between 4 and 10 adjacent positions on the reels turn wild.
- Symbol Upgrade feature - 2 of the lower value symbols will morph into the higher value sword man, sword lady or castle symbols.
Land the XZONE symbol on the middle 3 reels on the same spin to trigger the main extra, the Free Games Bonus feature - here you’ll be awarded 8 free spins. Each winning free spin is boosted by a random multiplier of between 2x and 10x. Every time an XZONE scatter lands during the feature, an extra free spin is added to your total.
The other extra is the Temple Tower Jackpot feature which is triggered by landing the bonus symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin. Your job then is to climb up the ladder by picking stones - the higher up you make it, the bigger the awards on offer. Reach the summit to pocket the jackpot of 500 times your stake.
Sword of Destiny has been a popular game with live casino players and there’s no reason why this online version shouldn’t follow suit. The design is terrific.
