Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ Slot

Have you seen a slot game with a worse name than Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’? Well that’s what Ainsworth has come up with these for this 5 reel, 30 payline jungle-themed title. The main extra on offer in this colourful game is the feature round where you’ll get up to 10 free spins with specially transforming symbols. Play from 30p per spin.

The design in Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin ’leaves little to the imagination and the rainbow of colours is an assault to the senses. The purple reels feature the usual lower value playing cards. You’ll also see frog, lizards, toucans and other furry creatures. Most rewarding is the spotted big cat - land 5 of these in a payline for a 1,000 coin award. The hummin’ bird of the title is the game’s wild - it substitutes for everything bar the scatter but doesn’t off any payouts.

Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ comes with a Free Games feature which is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 of the volcano scatter. A payout of 1, 5 or 50 times your stake is awarded. You’ll then spin 2 special reels. Reel 1 will reveal whether you’ve won 3, 5, 8 or 10 free spins. Reel 2 determines how many special Flower reels are in play.

When these special Flower symbols land during the feature, they will all transform into the same matching symbol. These flowers can fill 1, 2, 3 or 4 reels depending on how your initial free spin went.  A large complement of Flowers that transform into a high value matching symbol can lead to some impressive results.

Before you get too carried away in the feature, remember that there’s a different paytable in play. A 5 of a kind combo featuring the big cat will get you 1,000 coins in the base game but just 200 coins in the free spins. Of course, big clusters of matching symbols can hit in the feature.

We didn’t really enjoy Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’. The sound is generic and the visuals crudely done. The bonus round in and of itself is okay - it always feels a little disappointing when you check the free spins paytable though.

Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ should conjure up all things nice. It didn’t for us. Sadly, we found this slot game lived up to the latter part of its name. It’s hummin’! There are much better jungle themed titles out there with Jungle Spirit: Call of the Wild by Net Entertainment recommended.
