Just like the original, there’s nothing flashy about Mustang Money 2 as the visuals are decidedly underwhelming. You’ll see lower value A to 9 royal values as well as flaming gold bars, bald eagles and a rocky canyon. The most rewarding symbol is the golden dollar sign which pays 5, 50, 100 or 1,000 coins if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 on a payline.
The horse is the wild, it replaces all other symbols whenever it lands on reels 2, 3 or 4 - it also acts as the scatter and triggers the game’s Free Games feature when you land 3 of them on the same spin.
Once activated, you’ll be given 10 free spins. Added to the standard symbols is the special Mustang Money symbol. This triggers a special respin, the Mustang Money feature, when it lands on reels 1 and 5 on the same free spin. Both of the end reels are filled with wilds and held. The 3 remaining reels respin to hopefully create a new winning combination. Land 3 of the horse symbols and an extra 5 free spins are added to your tally.
That’s pretty much it as far as gameplay goes - like many slot games from Ainsworth, Mustang Money 2 is a very simple game. The graphics are crudely drawn and the soundtrack generic. You certainly won’t mistake this for a game from Quickspin or Yggdrasil Gaming.
The Free Games feature hits regularly enough. The best chance of landing a big score comes via the Mustang Money feature as a good respin with the stacked wilds can lead to a stampede of coins.
We weren’t overly enthused with the original Mustang Money so were surprised to see a sequel hit the online casino shelves. The design is underwhelming and the gameplay limited. It’s solid enough but we won’t be rushing back to play it any time soon.
