Mighty Wilds Slot

Aussie developer Ainsworth is inviting players to get on their safari suit and go hunting for a jackpot in Mighty Wilds. The highlight of this 5 reel, 30 payline slot game is the bonus feature that awards up to 15 free spins with multipliers that can send payouts rocketing by up to 5x. Stakes range from between 30p and £3,000 per spin.

The design in Mighty Wilds is typical of an Ainsworth-powered game. The reels are set against a grassland backdrop and include A to 9 playing cards alongside gorillas, rhinos, cheetahs, panthers and leopards. The leopard is the best of these standard symbols, awarding 15 times your total stake if you land 5 in combination. The lion is the wild - it spins in a stacked formation and can land on reels 3, 4 and 5 during the base game.

Things are a little different in the Free Games feature - to trigger it, you’ll need to land 3, 4 or 5 of the eye scatter. As well as a payout of 2, 10 or 50 times your total stake, you’ll also receive 10 free spins. The set-up change slightly during the feature. The leopard, panther and cheetah land on reels 1, 3 and 5 only and offer payouts if landed in a mixed combination. The lion wilds are in play on reels 2 and 4 only.

Also thrown into the mix is the special bonus reel which comes with the eye - it offers multipliers which can boost wins by 2x, 3x or 5x. Land 3 or more scatters and you’ll add 5 more free spins to your total.

The paytable used during the free spins is different too. All of the standard symbol payouts are lower than in the base game. The multipliers help make up for any shortcomings here but it’s worth noting the discrepancy. The main exception is the scatter - land 5 of them during the free spins and you’ll win 250 rather than 50 times your total stake.

Visually, Mighty Wilds doesn’t really impress. The symbols have a soft-focus sheen which doesn’t really sit well with the wild theme. The generic soundtrack is nothing special either, bar the occasion lion’s roar.

With its simple visuals and basic gameplay, Mighty Wilds isn’t the most exciting safari-themed title we’ve come across. It’s all solid enough but offers nothing we haven’t seen many times before. Raging Rhino by WMS or White King by Playtech are much better options.
