One big change that online casinos have made to the gambling market, is that they have unlimited virtual floor-space to try out new slot games and machines. In a big Vegas casino floor space is at a premium, so the casino would want to know that a new machine would be easy to understand and not in anyway diverse from the format that players recognise. Now, with online casinos having unlimited virtual space, slot developers now have more room to play about with ingenious game concepts. One that's really caught our eye recently is the excellent Cash Drop game, which at first glance looks like it could be just another generic fruit flavoured slot. However, when we played this game we discovered there was a lot more too it than meets the eye.

Firstly, you have to get your head round the fact that this is a slot game, even though it doesn't play on conventional reels. The game is displayed on a honey-combe grid of eighteen hexagons. This grid has twenty pay-lines spread over the spaces and unlike many other twenty line slots, this number is non selectable, you have to play the full twenty lines or nothing. Every time you spin on the grid the hexagons all flip and turn over several times before coming to rest in a big wave across the mesh. When all the symbols have settled in, the game shows you the winning combinations.

Cash Drop is very well put together graphically with lovely spin animations completely ripple across the grid to excite and delight as the symbols stop in. This is coupled with audio that tingles on every spin only to add glorious explosion noises to every win and combination you're lucky enough to score. The symbols on the Cash Drop are basic fruit shapes, harking back to the original Bell Fruit machine with the addition of a scatter jackpot symbol that will score you the game's progressive jackpot.

You'll notice that when the symbols flip on the Cash Drop grid, the outer border will be one of three colours. When the flips the first thing that's evaluated is complete lines of colour; should you score a pay-line full of one colour this pay-line will explode (allowing new symbols to come in the place of the destroyed symbols) and you'll be awarded a multiplier for each line that exploded. A single line on Cash Drop will give you a x2 multiplier on any fruit combination, two lines a x3 multiplier and so on. If you've got any fruit combinations on a line that's going to explode, these will be evaluated first and then the line will explode, allowing the new symbols to appear forming new combinations (hopefully) that can then be evaluated with the multiplier from the exploded line in place.

This is without question one of the best new school slots we've played and the designers should get an award for ingenuity here. The game is very simple (a facet of many, many top slots) and yet at the same time complex and ingenious, in the combination wins and exploding chains. We'd recommend that every slot player out there at least try Cash Drop once before they drop.
