The design in Lightning Gems has a fantastical feel. Backed by fields, mountains and a brooding skyline, the reels include green, blue, yellow and red gemstones. The best of them is the red which pays 8, 50 or 125 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a line. Winning combinations can be started from the right reel as well as the left.
The gold medallion symbol is the wild. It replaces all other symbols apart from the scatter and offers awards of 10, 100 or 500 coins if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. Lightning Gems is a simple game. Despite the jewel theme, the visuals aren’t especially glitzy. They work well enough though, especially in conjunction with the magical backing track that accompanies proceedings. There’s plenty of action on offer here and you can expect to land all 3 of the features at regular intervals.
It’s not overloaded with extras but what Lightning Gems does what it does well enough. It’s a sparkly little game that delivers some solid entertainment. NextGen Gaming has produced better games with Glorious Empire and Titan Storm recommended.
