Ted Slot

Based on the cult 2012 movie about a foul-mouthed talking bear, Ted is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot game from Blueprint Gaming. It's packed full of features including 6 base game modifiers as well as 5 main bonus features. Play, on all devices, from between 20p and £200 per spin.

The design in Ted has a cartoon feel - the reels are set against a rubbish strewn couch and feature Ted after a particularly hard night on the sauce. Symbols include A to 9 playing cards, a bong, bottles of beer, a swan and the character played by Jessica Barth in the film. There's also a Ted logo which spins fully stacked and offers payouts of up to 25 times your total bet. That same payout is on offer from Ted himself who is the game's wild - he replaces all other symbols apart from the Thunder Buddies Bonus symbol which is the scatter.

As we mentioned in the intro, Ted is an action-filled affair, starting with the 6 randomly triggered modifier extras that can hit in the base game. They are as follows:

  • Laser Gun Infectious Wilds feature - Ted jumps up from the couch and fires a laser at the reels mid-spin. The laser blasts around, turning the symbols it lands on wild.
  • Psychedelic Super Spin feature - Ted picks up a hookah pipe and covers the reels in smoke. Extra Ted symbols are added to the reels. When the smoke clears, the Teds will all transform into the same matching symbol.
  • Beer Streak feature - after a spin, Ted can open a can of beer and spray froth over the reels. Symbols will then move places and a new payout calculation is made.
  • Psychedelic Colossal Spin feature - once again, Ted covers the reels with smoke from his hookah pipe. This time, 3 reels will merge to create a single giant 3x3 symbol. A new payout is then made.
  • TV Remote Symbol Streak feature - after a winning spin has finished, Ted can jump up from the sofa and start playing with the TV remote. That triggers a re-spin with the original winners held in place. These re-spins continue until there's one that doesn't add to the winning cluster.
  • Psychedelic Bonus Boost feature - Ted's bong adds extra Bonus symbols to the reels, making it that much more likely to trigger 1 of the game's 5 bonus features.

To trigger those bonus features, you'll need to land 3 or more of the Thunder Buddies Bonus scatter symbol anywhere on the reels on the same spin. Spin the wheel to reveal which 1 of the features you've been awarded. You'll get 1 of the following:

  • Wheel of Fartune Bonus feature - spin the wheel here to win multiplier prizes that are applied to your total bet. Land on an arrow and you'll move in a ring and spin a new wheel where bigger prizes are on offer. Make it to the centre for the Big Money Bonus feature (more of which shortly).
  • Bar Crawl Bonus feature - work your way along a board and collect prizes as you go. Hope to collect Big Money counters as 5 of these will take you to the Big Money Bonus feature.
  • Super Mart Free Spins feature - here you'll be awarded an initial 5 free spins. Work your way along a supermarket carousel. When the reels stop, a selection of extra wilds are added to the reels.
  • Flash Free Spins feature - these free spins are played out on a new set of 5x4 reels. Above them is a selection of extra cash prizes, free spins and added wilds. Stop the flash on the corresponding symbol and you'll be awarded the extra goodies.
  • Big Money Bonus feature - if you reach the Big Money Bonus feature, you'll see Ted in the middle of the screen surrounded by a carousel of multipliers and Sale signs. After a spin, you'll be awarded the corresponding multiplier. Then pick a Sale sign which will reveal a re-spin (and another multiplier award) or a collect which brings the round to a close.

If you don't like the bonus feature you've been awarded, you can take a feature gamble. You can gamble until you reach the Big Money Bonus feature or you lose, in which case you'll be awarded a mystery cash prize.

As you can see, there's a huge range of extras on offer in Ted, making it a great choice if you enjoy plenty of variety in your play. The base game modifiers come along far more regularly but even these can deliver some fine results – especially the Psychedelic Colossal Spin feature.

The visuals aren't quite as high-end as we'd have expected given that this is a movie tie-in. The foul-mouthed commentary from the naughty bear certainly livens things up though. The excellent feature rounds make up for any design shortcomings though.

If you're a fan of the original movie, then there's plenty to enjoy here. Even if the thought of a sweary bear seems ludicrous, the battalion of bonus features on offer make Ted well worth a view. If you like movie tie-ins, Blueprint Gaming also offers you Austin Powers.
